• Dry quarantine or emergency drying
• Safe for collections
• Mobile and compact
To intervene quickly when even superficial mold occurs, this pre-decontamination chamber can be set up quickly anywhere for immediate quarantine of your heritage funds and thus prevent the spread of the infestation.
Thanks to its innovative process, your funds are protected without having to resort to processes that are harmful to the environment.
It advantageously replaces the drying tunnel recommended in the event of water damage and provides an immediate solution in the event of climate change, document transfer or development of microorganisms due to a high relative humidity rate, dust, lack of air renewal or confinement of spaces.
PAP pre-decontamination chamber
Following water damage in a confined space, it is often necessary to treat documents and works exposed for several days to a relative humidity greater than 70%.
After diagnosis by an expert in preventive conservation who will have been able to observe mold developments, it will be judicious to place the affected elements as soon as possible in a mobile PAP pre-decontamination chamber to avoid the propagation of mold in the environment of the collections. .
This room can be installed without difficulty on the site to limit the transport of documents to be processed. Easily transportable thanks to its carrying case, it can be assembled and disassembled quickly.
Compact and light, delivered with an active hygrometric control unit, its four shelves can each accommodate one linear meter of documents to be processed.
Principle of treatment
Decontamination involves removing the biological contaminant from the support it degrades. For this, the various studies have shown the benefit of using a pre-decontamination chamber for at least 30 days with air treatment at 40% relative humidity before proceeding to micro-aspiration of the spores rendered inert. but still present.
With the chamber doing its job, the documents will gradually lose their moisture until the mycelium dehydrates and stops growing. When dried, the contaminant can then be easily removed from the support by micro-aspiration. After treatment, the structures can be replaced in a place where the climate will be controlled.
Innovative hygrometric regulation
In order to gradually drain excess moisture from the collections placed in the decontamination chamber, the system used consists of depleting the air of its humidity by ionization. This system does not require maintenance, it is free from vibration or noise pollution. An electrical connection is required.
A probe continuously measures the temperature and RH within the pre-decontamination chamber and the air is treated until the target value is reached and then maintained throughout the quarantine.
This active ingredient is also used for the control of the heritage display cases of Promuseum and benefits from several years of positive experience.
